Mont Scuderi

Classical excursion on one of the most suggestive peaks of the Peloritanis Mountains. Magnificent the views on the strait of Messina and on Calabria, without forgetting the sight of the Etna. One of the so many Sicilian legends tell that in the cave that is found near the top of the mountain is hidden one “Truvatura” a treasure set by the inhabitants of the place to defend it from the raids of the Saracens.

Excursion inside the legendary Wood of Malabotta. Last residual of the ancient forest that once covered the whole Sicily, the natural reserve of the Wood of Malabotta is set in an impervious valley surrounded by the Nebrodi Mountains and by the Peloritani Mountains. Along the track you can admire several monumental millennial oaks. In the vicinity there are the Dolmens of the Argimusco and the old town of Montalbano Elicona.

Along this track it's possible to find out volcanic bombs of  considerable dimensions, and admire wooded formations   dominated by the Birch tree (betula aetnensis). The exceptional geologic interest is represented by the 1865  eruption that has given origin to the craters called Sartorius, in honour of the studious Von Sartorius.
